In BABYLON BY BUS: Bob Marley & The Wailers Live and Up Close we relive the golden age of reggae in the 1970s, when Bob Marley and reggae music celebrated their greatest triumphs. In the spring of 1976, Bob Marley & The Wailers took the reggae revolution to the European mainland. They played a concert in Amsterdam and were welcomed enthusiastically by fans and press alike. Sell-out concerts followed in the years 1977 to 1980 in The Hague, Rotterdam (twice) and Geleen.

In BABYLON BY BUS researcher and writer Martijn Huisman describes Marley’s concerts in the Netherlands in detail and brings the late 1970s and 1980s to life. Huisman interviewed people directly involved and carried out extensive archive research. The stories are enriched and visualised with the wonderful and unique photos made in 1976 and 1977 by renowned international pop photographer Gijsbert Hanekroot, as well as other photographers. The black-and-white and full-colour photos capture Marley at his best, both live on stage as well as off stage.
